Abstract:
A Cu2+-O-N=O complex is found under conditions of NOx reduction with propane on Cu/ZSM-5. The rate of this complex conversion turns out to be equal to the rate of NO reduction. This coincidence is considered to be a convincing argument in favor of the hypothesis that the nitrite complex is an intermediate of this reaction. The extinction coefficient for the N-O vibration in this compound is measured. The role of O-2 in NOx reduction with hydrocarbons is discussed.
