14N and195Pt NMR of Polynuclear Platinum Acetamidate Complexes

The platinum(III) acetamidate complexes [Pt2Py2(mu-Acam)(4)]Cl-2 (I) and [En(Acam)Pt(mu-Acam)(2)Pt(Acam)En]Cl-2 (II) and the platinum blue [PtBipy(Acam)(2)(NO3) (III), as well as the platinum(II) complex [EnPt(mu-Acam)(2)PtEn](NO3)(2) (IV) and the platinum blue [PtBipy(Acam)](CF3SO3) (V), where Acam = CH3C(O)NH, were studied by N-14 and Pt-195 NMR. Based on available X-ray crystallographic data on the iodide analogues of complexes I and 11 and compounds IV and V and on analysis of NMR data for these complexes, a correlation was established between the N-14 NMR chemical shift of the acetamide ligand and its coordination mode (N(or 0)-monodentate or (N,O)-bidentate bridging coordination) and trans partner at the Acam-Pt-L coordinate. The coordinate shifts were used in the analysis of the geometric structure of the platinum acetamidates studied.
