Abstract:
Two contributions to non-direct transitions, the termination of the Bloch wave at the surface and appearance of decaying waves in semi-infinite crystals, are considered. These contributions are compared with those due to inelastic scattering processes. As an example the photoemission from the valence bands of Pt(100)(1 × 1) is considered.
