Abstract:
The authors describe in detail and present the governing hydrodynamic equations involved in the application of a stationary phase to a capillary chromatographic column. A modified method is described in which an Elektronika BZ-34 or MK-61 microcomputer is used to calculate the hydrodynamic resistance of the column. The calculated value is used to adjust the pressure at the column end in order to ensure uniform movement of the plug of liquid in the column. An example of application of the method to the application of squalane stationary phase to a capillary column is provided.
