Abstract:
Effective group rate constants for the consumption of methanol (KM) and for the formation of aromatic hydrocarbons (KAr) have been obtained for the synthesis of hydrocarbons from methanol over a series of ZSM-5 zeolites by assuming that the reaction is inhibited by the products formed. It was observed that the value of (KM) increases and that of (KAr) decreases as the aluminium content of the zeolites decreases. An acid centre model for catalysis is presented to explain these results.
