Abstract:
The preparation and properties of polymer-protected copper colloids, which have been found to be rather efficient catalysts for dihydrogen evolution from water and various other reactions, are discussed. A strong influence of the nature and concentration of initial copper compounds, reductants and stabilizers on the dispersion and the stability of the copper colloids obtained by the direct chemical reduction of aqueous solutions of copper(II) compounds was found.
