Abstract:
The effects of Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs as promoters on the oxidation of C deposits on Fe2O3 catalysts were studied at
723-973 K. At <773-873 K (∼743 K for Li) a carbonate phase forms which catalyzes the oxidation. The catalytic activity of the carbonate increases as the ionic radius of the alkali metal increases. At temperatures >773-873 K (⪆743 K for Li), the alkali metals react to form ferrites which increase the catalytic activity.
