Abstract:
The kinetics and mechanism of the ligand substitution reaction in tris(benzoylacetonato)iron(III), Fe(III), by acetylacetone (HAA) were studied in hexane solutions, in the presence and without t-BuOH, CHCl3, or pyridine (I), at 25-40° by optical spectroscopy. t-BuOH exerts a positive and CHCl3 and Py a negative catalysis. The mechanisms of the substitution are proposed. The high energy compensation degree (93%) of the substitution in the presence of t-BuOH suggests the free-radical mechanism.
