Abstract:
A study has been made of the impregnation conditions in the synthesis of Co3O4/alpha-Al2O3 catalysts in relation to their influence on the dispersity of CCo3O4, the distribution of the active component through the grain of the support, and the rate of total oxidation of butane. It is shown that, by varying the nature of the solvent (water, ethanol, acetone) or by introducing additives of the type of ZrO(NO3)2 or polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), samples can be obtained with smaller Co3O4 particles and with a specific distribution of the Co3O4 through the grain of the support, thus giving higher catalytic activity of the samples in butane oxidation.
