Abstract:
A solution A, in which molybdenum occurs predominantly as the polymeric ions [Mo8O26]4 minus has been obtained by ion exchange of a solution of sodium molybdate on KU-2-8 cation exchanger. On heating molybdenum trioxide above 400 degree C it undergoes sintering. The thermal decomposition of the isopolymolybdic acid at 175-200 degree C is accompanied by an increase in surface area and pore volume.
