Abstract:
The IR spectra of adsorbed CO and C6H5CN have been used to characterize the acidic properties of Ca-, Co-, Ni-, Mn- and Cr-exchanged NaY zeolites. It is shown that, for each zeolite, the transition-metal cations form a set of aprotonic centers, differing in strength. For these particular materials, a correlation has been established between nu CO and the heat of adsorption of CO, this correlation being different from that for nontransition metals.
