Abstract:
A study has been made of the dehydrogenation of thiophane on molybdenum-containing oxide catalysts in the presence of atmospheric oxygen. The kinetic relationships have been examined, and reaction conditions have been selected. In comparison with the known method of obtaining thiophene from thiophane in an inert medium at 450 degree on sulfided molybdenum catalysts, the oxidative dehydrogenation of thiophane has a number of advantages. The reaction temperature is lower (300-350 degree ), and the rate of thiophene formation is an order of magnitude higher, as is the catalyst stability.
