Abstract:
The adsorption properties of monodisperse samples of anatase were studied. Based on the differences in the morphology of the samples, it was concluded that coordination-unsaturated titanium ions on facet (001) and on analogous structures are inert with respect to adsorption of the molecules studied (NH3, CO), and the remaining titanium ions are responsible for the appearance of two types of Lewis acid centers. It is believed that the surface hydroxyl groups are localized on the edges and apices of the crystals.
