Abstract:
A method is proposed for obtaining radial distribution curves (RDCs), based on a priori assumptions of smoothness of the background functions and incoherent and independent gas scattering; this method does not require any measurements of background or any knowledge of the intensity of Compton scattering. Segregation of the structurally sensitive part of the intensity curve is performed by means of B-splines. The method has been tested on polycrystalline silver and palladium. A comparison of experimental and theoretical. RDCs indicates satisfactory agreement.
