Abstract:
The influence of the thermal treatment of H3PMo12O40 . nH2O on its catalytic properties in acrolein oxidation is studied. It is shown that the degree of heteropolyacid (HPA) hydration determines the catalytic properties of HPA in the temperature region of the Keggin's structure existence (180 - 400°C); the higher the degree of HPA hydration, the greater the contribution of by-product formation (CO, CO2, CH3COOH) from either acrolein or acrylic acid. The high-temperature products of heteropolyanion decomposition, (PMo12O38.5)n and (MoO2)2P2O7, are characterized by an enhanced selectivity of acrylic acid formation, as compared with HPA.
