Abstract:
The nature of surface sites and propylene adsorption on stoichiometric bismuth molybdate are studied by FTIR spectroscopy. Lewis and Bronsted acid centers are revealed at the oxidized catalyst surface using IR spectra of adsorbed ammonia. Lewis acid sites are shown to interact with strong electron-donor ligands (NH3), but they do not interact with weak ligands (CO, C2H4, C3H6). Weak proton acid sites are found only at the surface of the oxidized sample.
