Abstract:
The effect of composition and temperature of heat treatment of a Co-Me-O composition (where Me equals Cr, Fe, Mn, Ce) on phase changes, surface, rate of reduction by hydrogen, and activity in extensive butane oxidation has been studied. The unit cell parameter of the spinel-type solid solution, found in aoll systems, increases both with increased MenOm fraction and calcination temperature; when MenOm greater than 10-20 mole %, a surplus phase appears. The surface area of samples containing MenOm less than equivalent to 50 mole % is independent of the kind of added metal and increases with the fraction of the latter. The rate of reduction of Co-Me-O is lower than that of pure Co3O4.
