Abstract:
The spectrum of thermal desorption of CO from a Ni/TiO2 catalyst differs from the spectrum of desorption from Ni/SiO2 in the presence of a high-temperature dissociative form of adsorbed CO, owing to strong interaction between the metal and support. The spectrum of desorption from a (Ni plus Ti)/SiO2 catalyst is a superposition of the spectra of desorption from Ni/SiO2 and Ni/TiO2; this indicates that, along with the Ni particles on the SiO2 surface, there are particles interacting with titanium ions. Data on heteroexchange of C18O with the oxygen of the support confirm that such interaction does actually exist.
