Abstract:
The title reaction in aqueous solutions of H3PO12O40 and H4SiW12O40 was 1st-order in olefin and 1st-order in heteropoly acid. The following relation was found between rate constant (k) and Hammett acidity function (H0): log k = -1.04H0 - 3.46. This relation was also followed by several mineral acids. Salt effects with heteropoly and mineral acids were discussed.
