Abstract:
Study of the adsorption forms of CO molecules on the surface of solid solutions of Cu and Al ions in a low-temp., anionically modified ZnO (AMZO) showed that the Cu ions at the surface of the AMZO were uniform and similar in state to Cu ions at the surface of Cu oxide. Under the influence of the reaction medium for MeOH synthesis, the Cu ions were reduced to Cu+. The low value for absorption bands (2100-2090 cm-1) of the CO adsorbed on these ions was the result of the electron donor effect of water (or OH- groups) in the ligand sphere of the Cu ion.
