Abstract:
IR spectroscopy of the adsorbed probe mol. CO along with electron microscopy, ESR, XPS, and electronic diffuse reflection spectroscopy were used to characterize the surface of Cu/Al2O3 catalysts containing 3.5-100 wt.% CuO as a function of sample treatment conditions. In addition to isolated Cu ions and a CuO phase, Cu-O clusters of different structures were detected. A theoretical calculation of the reaction capacity of O adsorbed in these clusters is presented.
