Abstract:
A study was carried out on the catalytic and physicochemical properties of vanadium catalysts (specific surface, sulfatization, extent of vanadium reduction, and content of various V4+ forms) with broad variation of the content and type of alkaline promoters and reaction conditions. The activity was found to be a function of the fractions of the oxidized vanadium forms, existence of incompletely coordinated V5+ forms, and specific surface. The significance of these factors and the activity series for Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs vary with the atomic weight and content of the promoter and reaction conditions.
