Abstract:
The formation of the pore structure in a tin dioxide xerogel has been investigated in relation to the conditions of hydrogel precipitation. It has been shown that by varying the nature of the precipitant, the pH, and the precipitation temperature. the volumes of the micropores and mesopores can be regulated. It is concluded that the ratio of the rate of hydrolysis of the original salt to the rate of nucleation of the oxide phase is an important factor in this process.
