Abstract:
Chemistry in the second coordination sphere of electrically neutral metal complexes ML, in organic solvents is discussed with particular emphasis on: (1) composition and stability of the outer-sphere complexes (coordination numbers, stability constants, enthalpies and entropies of formation); (2) life times of the outer-sphere complexes; (3) structure of the outer-sphere complexes; (4) nature of the outer-sphere coordination bonds; (5) effect of the outer-sphere coordination on the structure and physico-chemical properties of ML(n); (6) reactions in the outer coordination sphere.
