Abstract:
The lattice-gas model, taking into account the effect of the lateral interactions of adsorbed molecules on the rate constants of desorption and reaction, was used to describe CO desorption, oxygen desorption and CO oxidation on Ir(110). Theoretical thermal desorption spectra are in semi-quantitative agreement with the experimental spectra obtained by Weinberg and co-workers (Surface Sci. 78(1978)259; 79(1979)349; 70(1979)37). The accuracy of the method used by Weinberg et al. (Surface Sci. 90(1979)37) for determining the coverage dependence of pre-exponential factors and activation energies is discussed.
