Abstract:
The lattice-gas model, taking into account the effect of the lateral interactions of adsorbed molecules on the rate constants of desorption and reaction, is used to describe CO desorption, oxygen desorption and CO oxidation on Ir(111). The theoretical thermal desorption spectra are in semi-quantitative agreement with the experimental spectra obtained by Kuppers and Plagge (Z. Naturforsch. 34a (1979)81) and Ivanov et al. (J. Catalysis 48 (1977) 269). The accuracy of determination of the CO oxidation activation energy is discussed.
