Abstract:
The operating regimes of a reactor with periodic changes in the direction of the gas feed are investigated for conditions corresponding to gas processing with low adiabatic heating. It is shown that the heat losses weakly affect the operation with thermal insulation. When the walls of a large-diameter reactor are strongly cooled, regimes are possible with a low temperature at the periphery of the bed and a high temperature at the center. Simulation and experiment in a pilot plant are compared. The experiments involved the oxidation of butane and a propane-butane mixture.
