Abstract:
The activation process of Ni black (0.5-0.25 mm diam. granulation) by H takes place without an induction period and at lower temps. than the H-redn. process of NiO bulk particles. In a case of NiO catalysts, on a decrease of particle size from 70 to 10 Å the activation temp. increases from 140 to 300° and so does the activation energy from 14 to 32 kcal/mole. The study was performed on 14 catalysts. In some cases the temp. of the initial activation had to be increased to complete the activation process.
