Abstract:
Homomolecular N exchange on Fe or Mo2N catalysts proceeds by the adsorption-desorption mechanism. The rates of the N-isotope exchange and NH3 synthesis on the catalysts fit quant. to the rate equation which is derived assuming the dissociative adsorption of N as the rate limiting reaction in catalytic synthesis of NH3. The synthesis on Fe is faster than that on Mo2N.
