Abstract:
The stability of oxide catalysts for the oxidation of Me2S decreased in the order V2O5 » CuO ≥ Co3O4, Fe2O3 > Cr2O3 > ZnO > MnO2; deactivation of the catalysts was caused by deep-seated oxidation products, esp. MeSO3H, and, to a lesser extent SO2. Increased catalyst stability was promoted by lower temps. and contact times and by excess O in the system.
