Abstract:
The NO3- affects the sp. surface area of Fe3+ hydroxides in 2 ways: (1) as NH4NO3 crystals filling the catalyst pores and blocking access to them; (2) as NO3- ions introduced into the polymeric structure during pptn. of the particles. The crystallization process of the decomposition products of freshly pptd. Fe3+ hydroxides occurs at 2 different temperature intervals depending on NO3- content.
