Abstract:
Preliminary gamma irradiation of Al2O3 led to its increased catalytic activity in the polymerization of ethylene, during which the polymerization initiation occurred at electron vacancies and Al2+ centers in the catalyst. The activity of the irradiated catalyst was caused, apparently, by activated Cr ion impurities. An activation mechanism is discussed.
