Abstract: Magnetic properties of the La1xSrxCoO3 solid solutions have been studied by neutron diffraction and X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) measurements. Our data are in agreement with the following scenarios. The first scenario is about the magnetic phase separation into regions with different content of Co3þ/Co4þ ions in different spin states. The second one is about the gradual thermal excitation of the Co3þ ions from low- to intermediate- or high-spin state in wide temperature range.
