Abstract:
A study was made of the effect of paste moisture and primary particle diameter on pore structure of magnesium silicate carrier prepared by powder cementing with gel of same composition as powder itself. Secondary particles are broken down during mixing with binder and plastification, with result that material becomes polydispersed and acquires nonuniform pore structure. Increasing diameters of primary and secondary particles in parent material leads, in every case, to increase in pore radius and volume. Water content of paste prior to forming, and intensity of treatment in mixer, affect both radius and volume of coarse pores.
