Abstract:
The vibrational spectra of compounds of several classes with known basicity, absorbed on an aluminosillicate catalyst, gamma-aluminum oxide, and silica gel, were studied. The interaction of the adsorbate with the acid surface of the catalysts is discussed according to the characteristic vibrations of the functional groups. The possibility of using the IR-spectra of adsorbed bases to determine the acidity of the colored catalysts was demonstrated with the adsorption of benzalacetophenone and 4-bromoacetophenone on a silica-nickel catalyst as an example.
