Abstract:
The influence of various factors on the concentration of the ''soluble'' form of platinum in aluminoplatinum catalysts has been studied. When oxygen is excluded, irrespective of the concentration of platinum and the temperature at which the specimens are heated in a stream of hydrogen, the concentration of the ''soluble'' form of platinum is negligibly small. After the specimens have been in contact with atmospheric oxygen at room temperature, the concentration of the ''soluble'' form of platinum increases sharply, and depends chiefly on the temperature of the preliminary thermal treatment of the specimens in a stream of hydrogen; apparently this concentration depends on the degree of crystallinity of the platinum particles.
