Abstract:
The absorption of carbon monoxide on aluminum oxide and alkali- treated Al2O3 has been studied by IR spectroscopy. It has been found that carbon monoxide molecules react with surface hydorxyl groups of aluminum oxide to yield formate ions having different degrees of ionization.
