Abstract:
Part 3 deals with Co3O4, MnO2, ZnO, and TiO2. Using the kinetic method, the authors study the possibility of catalytic oxidation of hydrogen on these oxides by a stage-wise redox scheme. For chromium and copper oxides in the stationary state the velocities of reduction and reoxidation are equal and close to the catalysis velocity. For V2O5 the catalysis velocity in the stationary state is somewhat greater than the reduction- oxidation velocity. The activation energies and the orders of catalysis and reduction with respect to hydrogenate also similar. It is concluded that oxidation of hydrogen on chromium, copper, cobalt, manganese, and zinc oxides takes place via alternate reduction and oxidation of the catalyst surface, with a difficult stage of reaction of hydrogen with the oxygen of the oxide catalyst. For titanium oxide the velocity of the catalytic reaction exceeds that of reduction- oxidation of the oxide in the stationary state, which does not correspond to a stage-wise scheme.
