Abstract:
The presentation gives an overview on recently developed processes of hydrogen production by middle-temperature (450-650 degrees C) catalytic pyrolysis of natural gas and/or light hydrocarbons into hydrogen and valuable carboneous materials as well as by partial oxidation of natural gas into syngas in high temperature solid oxide fuel-cell-like systems. Under consideration are some advantages of the developed processes against conventional ones. E.g., such advantages lie in a possibility of production of hydrogen completely free of carbon monoxide, that is of a top importance for designing the low temperature fuel cells fueled with hydrogen, as well as a possibility of cogeneration of hydrogen with other valuable materials, chemicals or even electricity.
