Nanocomposites with 10 or 20 wt% additives of nonstoichiometric titanium monoxide TiOy (y = 0.92; 1.23) to hydroxyapatite (HAp) were prepared. The nanocomposites were studied by using of X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy methods. It was found that after annealing at 400 oС the titanium valence changes. The surface groups originating from HPO4 2− and OH− coordinating to Ti4+ and terminal carbonyls are formed. Partial cationic heterovalent substitution of Ti3+ and Ti4+ for Са2+ takes place. It was shown that the phase composition of HAp/TiOy nanocomposites depended on the stoichiometry of additives and their weight content. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.
