Abstract:
The application of the technology of oxidation in molten salts and catalysts for the destruction of components of chemical weapons is examined in this paper. This technology provides efficient waste destruction at the relatively low temperatures of 800–1000°C. Waste treatment in melted salts and catalysts has the following advantages: superior degree of conversion to the products of complete oxidation; efficient capture of mineral and inorganic components (HCI, HF, SO2, P4O10, etc.); the possibility to process mixtures of complex composition containing various gaseous, liquid and solid pollutants; reduced volume of exhaust gases and solid residue for the final disposal.
