Abstract:
Nature and phase compn. of the catalytically active component of the Fe Mo oxide catalyst for oxidn. of MeOH to HCHO was studied by x-ray, E.P.R., ir, and thermographic analysis. In the catalyst of Mo/Fe (ratio, 1.5) calcinated at 400В° there was present only one phase, normal iron molybdate, which pptd. as an amorphous phase and crystd. upon heating to 350В°. In catalysts of other ratios 2 phases were present, normal Fe molybdate and excess MoO3 or Fe2O3. Normal Fe molybdate constitutes the active component.
