Abstract:
Physical properties of many dielectric materials may be changed significantly by addition of small amount of carbon nanotubes. It is reasonable to expect that nanotubes can be used to modify the characteristics of explosives. This paper presents the results of
static and dynamic measurements of the properties of such explosive nanocomposites. The composites have rather high electrical conductivity. In the structure of the composites, the pores, which are tens of nanometers in size, were observed. For the RDX-based composition, the chemical reaction behind the front is somewhat faster as compared to the pure recrystallized hexogen. The dynamics of small-angle x-ray scattering of synchrotron radiation during detonation was measured. Nanotubes in detonation products are not observed
by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy
