Abstract:
The results of the study (chiefly by the NMR method) of the outer-sphere coordination of organic molecules to electrically neutral metal complexes have been analyzed. Data have been given on the coordination numbers, stability constants, enthalpies and entropies of formation, lifetimes, and geometric structures of the outer-sphere complexes, and also on the nature of the interactions responsible for outer-s~here complex formation. The influence of outer-sphere solvation on the structure and physicochemical properties of electrically neutral metal complexes in solution has been examined.
