A method for producing an Al2O-based carrier including the treatment of Al compd. with NH3 with subsequent drying and calcination, is different because to produce the carrier with a highly-developed surface, treatment takes place with NH3 vapors and calcination occurs in an air current at 700-750°. The method is different because the initial raw material used is a mixt. of boehmitic and bayeritic AlOH3.
