Abstract: Methane, ethane and ethylene are oxidised by hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solutions at room temperature and atmospheric pressure in the presence of peroxocomplexes of copper(II) hydroxide; the reaction presumably proceeds by a non-radical mechanism.
