Abstract: Ultradispersed aluminum oxide particles were obtained by the sol-gel method from an aluminum salt and aluminum alkoxides. X-ray phase analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermography, and high-resolution NMR spectroscopy were used to investigate the phase composition of the particles in the course of heat treatment. The distribution of aluminum atoms over tetrahedral and octahedral sites in phase lattices at various temperatures was determined and used to construct a diagram of temperature ranges for dominating phases.
