Abstract: A "chemical" absorbent-solution model based on the studies of mechanism and kinetics of a liquid-phase Claus reaction is proposed to describe the transient states in the formation of a steady-state chemical composition of the solution. Equations are derived to describe the steady-state compositions as functions of the initial concentrations of buffer-solution components, the concentration of impurities in the entering gas, and other parameters. The existence, uniqueness, and stability of steady states are studied.
