Abstract: The reduction of Cu2O and of Cu-​O by CO was studied by a pulse microcatalytic method in a reactor. At 185°, the rate of reduction passes through a maximum with continuously-​changing surface thermodynamic properties. The increase of the reduction rate is explained by a decrease of O surface bond energy with increasing reduction.
