Abstract: Calculations are performed for a discrete-nonuniform surface, consisting of S1 and S2 areas with different heats of adsorption of particles A. Under conditions of equilibrium distribution of the particles between the S1 and S2 areas, a considerable increase in the desorption rate via the route S1A(ads) --> S2A(ads) --> A(gas), as compared to the desorption rate via the route S1A(ads) --> A(gas), is observed. This effect is related to the variation of the entropy of adsorbed layers over the S1 and S2 areas.
